It can be quite an unsettling experience for a person who never experienced it before. When I experienced my first panic attack, I thought I was having a mild heart attack even though it was not the case. It can be quite an unsettling experience for a person who never experienced it before. It is therefore important to understand more about this specific anxiety disorder.

What are the symptoms of anxiety attacks? Here are a few common panic attack symptoms.

  • Chest pain
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Nausea
  • Hot flashes or chills
  • Dizziness
  • Tingling sensations
  • Choking sensations

Anxiety attacks can hit you suddenly like a ton of bricks. A panic attack normally reaches its peak within 10 minutes and involves experiencing 4 or more panic symptoms. The frequency of anxiety attacks can range from one attack per week to one per day.

What are the possible causes of panic attacks? Possible triggers can include the following anxiety attack causes.

  • Drug abuse
  • Certain medications
  • Toxins in the environment
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Stressful situations

You can review your behavior, environment and habits and try to uncover possible triggers that may be causing you to suffer from panic attacks. It would also be good to get some professional opinions from your doctor or psychiatrist. You can also consider that eating specific foods may be one of the anxiety attacks causes in people with food sensitivities.

Make sure that you are getting enough rest and relaxation. Anxiety attacks may be triggered by lack of sleep and fatigue. I actually experienced a panic attack that was triggered by sleep deprivation because of insomnia.

Remember that having an anxiety attack is not deadly, just very uncomfortable and unsettling. Do not give up hope of living a low anxiety lifestyle. Get help and get well.
